Win the Ink Recycling Game

Here’s how I save money on printer ink.

I use Office Max’s Ink-Cartridge Recycling Program. You can turn in 10 used inkjet cartridges per week (Sunday through Saturday. The days are important if you have a lot of cartridges to recycle) for a refund of $3 per cartridge. The maximum you can earn is $30 per week or $120 per month. This money is put on a Max Perks gift card that is issued monthly, by mail or email. We have been saving our HP cartridges in a box for years and I have been turning ten in each week for several weeks. We have now gone to refilling them at Cartridge World, but until they have all been recycled, the Office Max gift cards are great for office supplies. Unfortunately the gift card does have an expiration date — 3 months. This credit CAN be used in conjunction with other discounts since it is considered a gift card. So if you have one of those discount cards — Get $10 off when you Spend $50— use that card first, then give them your cartridge-credit gift card . . . do not give them the gift card first.
