Playing Cards in the Kitchen

meal planning cards

I write down my entrees, sides, desserts, etc. on a separate 3 x 5 card. When it comes time to plan a meal based on what I have in my pantry and/or what's on sale, I can take an entree card, choose a side card, and choose a dessert card, too. That way I can mix and match my selections without having the same things over and over again. Then I put those meals on my menu planner (in my computer) and print it out.  I put that on the refrigerator so that my husband can see what I've got planned.

SOS: Half the Pad, Twice the Life

I cut S.O.S. (or Brillo) pads in half and only wet part of it when I use it. It
lasts a lot longer if you don't wet the whole pad and doesn't rust as quickly.

Grapes Stay Great Longer

frozen grapes

When you get a great deal on seedless grapes - sometimes there are some left that are starting to go soft - and no one wants to eat them. I pull them off the stems, place them - single layer in a container and freeze them. They taste great frozen!

Peroxide - Versatile for Health and Laundry

hydrogen peroxide

I want to share what I learned from a doctor's wife, Becky Ransey of Indiana, about the benefits of using peroxide instead of the bleach I was using for cleaning.

Free Shopping List

Free shopping list

Many years ago, Steve created a personalized shopping list for Annette on our computer. It's been revised and fine tuned over time and is something we use every month to help us remember what foods and other staple items we normally buy. We check off what we want and write the quantities next to it. It's really simple to use. Having a pre-printed list that contains your regularly used foods makes planning a lot easier and faster.

You can download our list and modify it in MS Word or use it as is in a .pdf format

Chopping Shopping

”I’m running to the store to pick up a couple things for dinner— be back in 20 minutes.” This is the mantra of the harried shopper, home from work or rushed at the end of a day of non-stop errands or transporting kids to various activities.
