Scrap The Subscriptions
Local libraries are good for more than free videos.
When I had to curtail spending five to six years ago, I eliminated magazine subscriptions. I can read and even check out the magazines I subscribed to at our local library. From Cooking Light to Good Housekeeping to Money to . . . they have a great selection. I subscribe to one newspaper but read another at the library.

Sweet Deals on Magazines
I don't read a lot of magazines, but from time to time I need the "real feel" of a paper periodical in my hands. I subscribe to "Deal Seeking Mom", which is a money-saving site devoted to highlighting the deals of the day. Included in these are deals from a subscription site, where a full year of magazines I may be interested in are about $4.00 yearly on average. If you keep your eyes open, you might find your favorite in the offer!
