Dilute and Save

Dilute Dish Soap

When I get low on laundry detergent, I add a little bit of water, shake and use this when I wash clothes that aren't real dirty.

I also use this same strategy with dish soap.

Another idea is when emptying a bottle of bbq sauce, add water and use this when cooking, for example in baked bbq pork chops.

Toy Clutter Solution

clean up after your kids

All year long our kids leave toys and things throughout the house and we end up picking them up. To help our kids and our wallet we collect them and place them beyond the reach of the kids and hold them till Christmas time.

The large box is then wrapped with all the kids' names. The now actually ask for their toys back as part of their Christmas list. An added bonus is that some lovely toys are forgotten and become more interesting again when regifted to the child that owns them.

Cheap Window Cleaner

Instead of buying (Windex) type of window cleaners I use the one for your car windshield. It costs less then $2.00 for a gallon.  I pour it into a refillable spray bottle I saved from another product.

Home Made Hand Wipes

hand wipes

I have found a good way to save on all those anti-bacterial wipes.  I use an empty container and cut up paper towels, usually in four pieces, then roll them up, stuff them in, and pour rubbing alcohol over them so they are wet.  Alcohol is a great anti-bacterial and you can find it for $ 0.50 - 1.00 a bottle.  Great when you need to wash your hands.  I use them a lot in the car.

Cut Rate Sponges

Whenever I use a sponge I always cut it in half with a bread knife right down the middle. You only need half to wash with.  The sponge will last twice as long.

hydrogen peroxide

I want to share what I learned from a doctor's wife, Becky Ransey of Indiana, about the benefits of using peroxide instead of the bleach I was using for cleaning.
