AZTV - The Pat McMahon Show
This was one of our best interviews ever! Pat is a funny person with a very inquisitive nature and a real love for people.
We started with Pat asking if we changed our name from Murphy to Economides so we could write our newsletter. Believe it our not, this is a common question. Steve responded, "No, Pat that's my real name and as a matter of fact, I learned to spell Mississippi, before I could spell Economides."
One of Pat's main concerns was that saving money took so much time that we wouldn't have time for other activities. When we listed helping coach Joseph's Little League team, helping with Roy's Scout Troop, fund raising for Becky's teen drama group, piano lessons for Abbey and singing at church he understood that we were "almost normal."
We brought in many grocery items and things the kids had purchased - all for pennies on the dollar. Our point was that with some research and patience you can always find a great deal and save a bundle of money. Pat was impressed.
The conversation continued off the air for almost half an hour, talking about many different money saving strategies. Pat shared his plan to encourage his three kids to be involved in paying for part of their college educations. We agree heartily.
We have been invited back to share Christmas shopping ideas sometime after Thanksgiving. And he also wanted to have all our kids on the show (to grill them?) as well.
Pat's producer, Laura Holka was very enthusiastic and helpful in making this event occur.
Thanks Pat and Laura - you guys are great!
