An Easy Way to Quote your Insurance
We found a great resource for quoting Auto and Homeowners insurance. We discovered InsWeb.com after reading a Consumer Reports article about Auto Insurance quotes. We were hesitant at first to submit personal data through this web site, but our experience has proved to us that it is very secure and we have received no spam. Our information was submitted to numerous companies (more than 28 are listed on the web site) and we started receiving quotes within 24 hours.
We spent about 15 minutes inputing in our information and ended up saving $400 every six months on our auto insurance.
They also have renters, motorcycle, life, health and business insurance options.
We have told lots of our friends about InsWeb and they have experienced the same savings we have. One friend, who is on a tight budget, was able to save $40 each month on her auto insurance. That's like getting a $50 raise each month (before taxes).
We quote our insurance every two or three years. Be aware that InsWeb doesn't get quotes from every company out there, so you may need to make some
additional phone calls. But you will get several quotes from submitting your information one time and that alone will save you hours of time!
Time: We'll be totally honest with you, it's going to take you more than 15 minutes (apologies to the little Gecko) to fill out the information to get a quote.
You're going to need to input your driving history / accidents / tickets etc. You'll also need information about your vehicles: year, make, model and possibly VIN number; and you'll need to know your insurance coverages (all of this info should be on your current insurance policy).
And once you start receiving quotes from various companies, you'll have to review them to make sure that they are accurate. Figure another couple of hours.
If you set aside about 30 minutes right now to get your insurance info together and get started that should be enough time.
So it is going to take time to get this quote, but in the end, if it takes you 5 hours total to input your data and review quotes and it saves you $500 per year—you've just earned $100 per hour for your time. Now that makes it worth every minute your spend.
