Be careful when hiring someone to do a project on your home. We never hire someone who comes to our door and offers his services. We always research multiple companies and get competitive quotes. Whenever we're gathering prices from sub-contractors for a home improvement project we always check their ratings with two different sources:

1) Better Business Bureau
A great resource to check with before making larger purchases or signing contracts for home or business services. This is a link to the national site. Click on Consumer Guidance or Check Out A Company depending on the information

2) Arizona Registrar of Contractors
Every state has an agency that monitors and licenses the workmanship of contractors. Go to your state or municipality's web site and do your research.
