The Stuff-itus Cure

The Stuff-itus cure, eliminate, clutter, attic, junk, stuff

When you are frugal, you become very adept at collecting things at little or no cost. Initially the thought of gaining treasure is thrilling, but over time as your little pile of booty blossoms into multiple mountains, rooms and storage containers filled to overflowing, you’ll reach the point of Stuff-itus.

School Discounts

beauty college, school, cosmotology

Money is really tight and with unemployment on the rise, the number of people going to school to “re-tool” is also increasing. This means that students in service industries — hair and nail care, dentists, massage therapy and more — will need people to “practice” on. If you’re willing to take some risk, you can save a lot of dough. You may be surprised about the services they offer.

The Big Transition

Ready to leave the nest

No matter how long ago it’s been, everyone who has ever given birth, adopted or just loved a child fondly remembers the many firsts. Inspired To Save

I have just finished reading your book – just a few minutes ago!!!! It is incredible. I have several books on personal finance, a degree in business, a Personal Financial Planner designation (from a university, but not a national designation) and I was a credit counselor for some years before settling in as a stay-at-home mom (husband, two sons and a dog). My husband and I both practice a frugal lifestyle and often find ourselves out-of-touch (not to complain) with most of the people we come in contact with about frugality, parenting, our values, etc.

Then Steve mentioned that we take “sailor showers.” Dr. Phil was astonished and asked us to explain.

When Is Enough...Enough?

Stop sign

Americans are infatuated — maybe even obsessed — with people who have what we don’t. The media encourages our coveting by presenting a steady diet of lifestyles of the apparently rich and famous in magazines, on TV’s celebrity news and on Internet sites. We dress like celebrities, talk like them and may secretly aspire to live like them.

This Is The Life!

fishing boat

This story has been around for a long time, but it bears consideration especially in light of our current economic circumstances. Is progress, really progress?

A fishing boat was docked in a tiny coastal village south of the border. An American tourist complimented the local fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took him to catch them. “Not very long,” answered the fisherman.
