Toys and play are important to a child’s healthy development, often consuming a considerable portion of a family’s annual budget. So we’re sharing our philosophy about them. We aren’t child development experts — just the parents of five kids. Through observing our own kids, serving as Sunday school teachers for infants through elementary schoolchildren, and helping with 4-H, sports teams and scouting, we’ve drawn conclusions about the role of toys in childhood.
