Saving on Cell Phones — Again!

We're all about getting the best quality for the lowest price. About two years ago we learned about Straight Talk, a cooperative effort between Wal-Mart and TracFone to produce a better prepaid cell phone plan that included text, talk and internet. The original product rolled out with some minor glitches with service and phones. Eventually they included better phones and service on not only Verizon's network, but also T-Mobile and AT&T.

Turkey Soup

When the weather is chilly, nothing warms up a house and your bones like a hot bowl of home made soup. Throughout the year, we save chicken backs, ham bones and turkey carcasses (all of the bones), in plastic bags in our freezer. We cook one turkey (bought at Thanksgiving time) almost every month of the year (except the really hot summer months). Annette boils the carcass to make the broth.

We’ve used our debit card to make airline reservations, rent cars and we’ve even earned enough bonus points (some banks offer this incentive) with them to buy several round-trip airline tickets.

Instant "Apple Pie"

grilled applesauce sandwich

Cheap snack for kids!  Take sandwich bread and top with applesauce and cinnamon.  Make a sandwich and butter both sides.  Cook like a grilled cheese sandwich. Sprinkle with sugar and you have an instant apple pie.  The kids love it!

Veggies in the Bag

At the end of dinner time if you have a spoonful of left over corn, beans, peas etc add them to a freezer bag.  When you have enough make some vegetable soup.
