How to Save Money and Organize Your Finances: Tales of an Urban Consumer

How to Save Money and Organize Your Finances: Tales of an Urban Consumer
Author: Me’Shae Brooks-Rolling

If you’ve ever been drowning in a hopeless sea of debt, this book could definitely help you. Me’Shae talks at length about credit card company ploys, collection agencies, credit scores and securing a good credit counseling agency. She writes from her experience of being deeply in debt, her climb out of the debt trap and helping others do the same.

This book is NOT for those who have already achieved a level of thrifty living. Me’Shae is a “newbie” to the frugal scene as evidenced by her tips to save money by ordering custom made Christmas cards a few weeks early or deciding to take left-overs home from a restaurant. She chronicles her “coming of age” out of a financial crisis and into the first phases of the frugal life. She just hasn’t quite left the spend-thrift life behind and we saw evidence of this as we read between the lines, seeing contradictions or frustrations with making changes that most financially free people have already put in the deep dark past. Still, we don’t fault her for wanting to manage her finances better and making the major life-changes associated with moving from being a debt riddled urban consumer to a cash based super-saver.
