Abe Lincoln: Log Cabin to White House
As President’s day draws near we want to encourage reading books that elevate the character of some of our great leaders. Abraham Lincoln’s story is a wonderful encouragement for all ages. This book describes Lincoln’s childhood of incredible poverty on a farm and schooling himself by reading every book he could get his hands on. It portrays Lincoln’s diligence and determination as positive character qualities. It also tells of his perseverance through hardship, political defeat and finally his accomplishments as one of the most beloved presidents of the United States.
Landmark books combine well-written stories with well-researched history. All of our kids have enjoyed them. Sterling North authored this book and is best known for writing Rascal — a story about a boy and a raccoon.
