Wayback Machine Finds Old Coupon

Our son Joe goes to the batting cages every week to practice his hitting. He's playing baseball in college now and needs to keep practicing.

The staff at the batting cages recognizes him and he always uses a coupon—buy 2 rounds get one free—downloaded from the web site of the batting cage (actually a large fun park near our home with go carts, bumper boats, golf, mini-golf, batting cages and volleyball courts). The coupon has no expiration date on it.

Unfortunately, the last time we went, he used the "master" copy he had been copying. Today when we went to the website, they had taken the coupon down, so we couldn't print out a new one.

If we had only kept a copy, we would have been able to use it.

So what did we do? We went to the website commonly referred to as the "WayBack Machine"  (http://www.archive.org/web/web.php)

We discovered it years ago when we were looking for old views of our first website www.homeeconomiser.com.

It allows you to see just about every website in existence and how it has changed over the years. You'll get multiple views each for each year. It's pretty cool.

Anyway, we were able to go to a 2008 view of the batting cage website and clicked the link for coupons and printed out a new master. Just as a safe guard, we also made a .pdf of it. We went to the batting cage and were allowed to use it!

We love the internet, and we love using coupons to get discounts.
